You are too removed from your object. Get in on a more human level. How do you move around on your jetty, how do you get from the jetty to the land? Think about handrails, canopies and other elements.
Is this the sceleton? If so, where is the muscles, skins and hair of your project?
How does this relate to the idea of fragility? How are the springs working in this structure?
Overlay the structure at various states/times. How does it behave in rough weather? And at night?
